Ground & Air Source Heat Pumps Bath & Bristol.

With Gas and Oil prices fluctuating and energy production costs set to rise in the future, being able to produce your own low cost source of heating is now more attractive and more affordable than ever.

A Ground and Air Source Heat Pump can be used to heat radiators, under-floor heating systems, swimming pools and even heat water in your home.

Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps can cool or heat, either using air or water and work on the same principals as a fridge, by extracting heat from a specific source. There are 2 main types of air heat pumps, the “Air to Air” system which provides warm air heating and the “Air to Water” system which feeds hot water into a premises via radiators or under-floor heating.

How does an Air Source Heat Pump work:

Air is fanned into the Air Source Heat Pump where the heat in the air is then absorbed into a fluid, this fluid is then pumped through the heat exchanger and then through the heat pump compressor, where it is concentrated into a higher temperature which is then used to heat water or a warm air system.

Air Source Heat Pump.

Air Source Heat Pumps are much more efficient at lower external temperatures than standard boiler systems, so they can be used in larger radiators, under-floor heating systems and radiator skirting boards to provide a constant source of heat during the day and night. Though heat pumps do use electricity, the heat extracted from the air is constantly being replaced naturally which can reduce your carbon emissions.

Depending on your current source of fuel you can expect:-
  • Lower fuel bills.
  • Reduced Carbon Footprint.
  • Lower maintenance as the Ground and Air Source Heat Pump is regarded as a “fit and forget system”.
  • Highly recommended for replacing electric, coal and oil heating systems.

The Energy Saving Trusts field trial results for air source heat pumps in a real life environment.
Using typical system efficiencies from the field trial the following savings have been modelled when replacing an existing heating system in a 3 bed semi detached home.

  Air Source Hat Pumps
Savings from typical performing system 220% Savings from good performing system 300%
Gas £/yr -£130 £70
